The popularity of SUP is now unstoppable in warm coastal resorts around the world, and because of the popularity of professional surfers, celebrities and stars, SUP can be found in safe waters all over the world. It was a Vietnam veteran named Rick Thomas who brought SUP from Hawaii to the U.S. In 2000, Rick introduced the new sport to California by standing on an 11-foot surfboard and holding a paddle made by Leleo Kinimaka. SUPs are priced between $600 and $1,500 and are available in lengths of 9 feet or more, even up to 12 feet or more.
Paddleboarding was defined as a boat by the U.S. Coast Guard on October 3, 2008, and SUP players are required to wear a life jacket when entering certain waters (self-inflating life jackets are now available), but I don't believe this has dampened the enthusiasm for SUP. "brought paddleboard surfing to China for the first time, debuting at the 2009 Surf China Carnival, bringing the country's people up close and personal with this trendy sport for the first time. At present, there are already many players in many surf spots in China who are beginning to experience this very easy sport for civilians to get in touch with.
